“I Am Your Local” Photography Exhibition at Shepherd’s Bush Market – A Lens on Refugee Voices

Shepherd’s Bush Market proudly hosts “I Am Your Local…”, a free public photography exhibition as part of Refugee Week celebrations. Presented by Photojournalism Hub and Hikayetna, this thought-provoking showcase runs from 16th to 20th June. It offers visitors a rare glimpse into the lives of refugees and migrants through their own lens.

This moving photography exhibition highlights the resilience, creativity and lived experiences of those too often defined solely by their migration status. The event shifts the narrative, focusing instead on identity, belonging and community. Visitors can expect powerful photographic work by 13 international photographers. This includes Annie Gentil-Kraatz, Maria Tomas Rodrigues, Serbest Salih and others. The portraits, landscapes and documentary shots explore themes of home, displacement, and connection.

The exhibition opens on Monday 16th June at 6pm, with a special presentation from the organisers and featured photographers at 7pm. The venue is Shepherd’s Bush Market, London W12 8DF – right in the heart of West London’s most historic and vibrant trading hub.

Curated by the community-led organisations Photojournalism Hub and Hikayetna, the exhibition is supported by Hammersmith & Fulham Council. It reflects Shepherd’s Bush Market’s longstanding commitment to inclusion and diversity.

Entry is free, and all are welcome. If you’re looking for a local cultural event or a unique photography exhibition in Shepherd’s Bush, this is a powerful and timely experience not to miss.
