Flow Happy, a leading menstrual equity organisation, has just installed a free period product unit in the brand-new toilets at Arch 162 in Shepherd’s Bush Market. This move is part of their mission to make period products as accessible as toilet paper.
The accessible unit is stocked with free pads and tampons. It is open to anyone who menstruates, without any red tape or barriers. The goal? To make sure nobody is caught out or forced to go without the essential products they need.
This installation builds on Flow Happy’s existing presence in the market. They’ve extended their popular pop-up stall at Unit 48 for at least another week. This stall offers free period products, a chance to speak with volunteers, and practical advice around menstrual health. Visitors can stop by to collect supplies or ask questions in a safe and stigma-free environment.
Since launching in March 2022, Flow Happy has distributed over 223,440 free period products across London. Their founder, Alvina, started the initiative after her own experience with period poverty. Her vision is a city where dignity and access to essential health items are a basic right—not a privilege.
The Shepherd’s Bush Market collaboration is a local example of what Flow Happy does best: getting products into the hands of those who need them, and making it simple. The toilets at Arch 162 are now a place of dignity and inclusion, not just convenience.
For Shepherd’s Bush Market, this partnership reflects its long-standing history of resilience and community care. From weathering war-time to welcoming a new wave of social enterprise, the Market continues to grow as a space that supports all walks of life.
The Flow Happy pop-up is open Thursdays from 12pm-5pm and Saturdays from 11am-4pm. Find them at Stall 48, right in the heart of the Market.
No shame. No shortages. Just access for all.
