Ethiopian New Year at Shepherd’s Bush Market | Arts & Crafts Workshop

This Saturday, 13th September, Shepherd’s Bush Market will host a vibrant celebration of Ethiopian New Year. Join us for a day of colour, tradition and creativity, open to both adults and children at Delina Cafe, Arch 176.

Ethiopian New Year, or Enkutatash, welcomes spring and symbolises renewal, hope and joy. A key part of the celebration is the Adey Abeba flower, which blooms in September across Ethiopia. This bright yellow daisy represents optimism and new beginnings, making it the perfect symbol for the season.

At this special workshop, you will paint the Adey Abeba in gouache on cotton rag paper. Guided by skilled artists, you’ll learn about the flower’s cultural meaning while creating your own lasting artwork. Children and adults alike will enjoy this chance to connect with Ethiopian heritage through hands-on creativity.

Tickets are only £2.50 per person. Spaces are extremely limited, so book your place now to avoid disappointment. Sessions begin at 11:30am and 2pm and last an hour and a half each.

Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate Ethiopian New Year and enjoy unique arts and crafts at Shepherd’s Bush Market.
